“meaning doll in dutch”

Tonnetje

“Tonnetje”

Meaning Doll in Dutch, I was inspired off of elements of vintage dolls with lots of ribbons and bows on the dresses they would wear. Naming this piece, I went off of the word ‘doll’ and used the dutch translation, due to being part Dutch within my ancestry.

Corset Project for CADS 3750

Black chiffon corset top with panels of pleated chiffon laced up with silk ribbon on the sides.

Black chiffon pants with a train in the back of the legs with shorts sewn into the upper half. Pants are slip-on with tied silk ribbons at the hips creating a low-waisted silhouette.

My goal in creating this project was to push myself by using chiffon. Working with many pleats using chiffon was a challenge but the lots of hours put in was worth it. I also wanted to work on using chiffon and translucent, thin fabrics to emphasize and work on my interest in going into intimates and lingerie in my future career.
